How do I respond to a message from my business account?

Depending on the category of a business, users can send either send messages or request quotes to businesses. The best way to respond to incoming requests is from the Yelp for Business app, but you can also choose to reply from biz.yelp.com or your email address. You’ll also need to enable email and push notifications, which should help you keep a favorable response rate and response time. If you have not replied to any message in 30 days and do not reply within 7 days of receiving a new message, the messaging feature will automatically disable. To re-enable it you must reply to a message (or mark as replied).

From the Yelp for Business website

  1. Go to the Inbox section of Yelp for Business
  2. Click the message you'd like to respond to
  3. Draft your response, and click Send to message the user
Click the camera button in the bottom right to upload up to five photos to attach to your response.

From the Yelp for Business app

  1. Tap Inbox in the bottom navigation bar
  2. Tap the message you'd like to respond to
  3. Tap the bar at the bottom of the screen that says Write a response...
  4. Enter your message and tap Send

From your email address

Please note that you'll need to enable email notifications to be able to reply to messages from your email address.

When you receive an email notification that a Yelper has messaged you for the first time, you can simply reply from your email service (but your email address is not shared with the Yelper, and your message will appear on the Yelp website as if it had been written there). You can only reply via email to the initial message from a Yelper. You’ll get an email if they reply to your response, but to continue the conversation you’ll need to go to your inbox on Yelp for Business or use the Yelp for Business app.
