How do I respond to a message from my business account?

Depending on the category of a business, Yelp users can send either send messages or request quotes from businesses. The best way to respond to messages is from the Yelp for Business app, but you can also choose to reply from Yelp for Business website or your email address. You’ll also need to enable email and push notifications, for when you receive message leads or direct messages. This should help you keep a favorable response rate and response time.

If you do not reply within 7 days of receiving a new message and have not replied to any message in 30 days, messaging will be automatically disabled. To re-enable it, you need to locate the unread messages and mark them as replied.

From the Yelp for Business website

  1. Go to the Inbox section of Yelp for Business
  2. Click the message you'd like to respond to
  3. Draft your response, and click Send to message the user
Click the camera button in the bottom right to upload up to five photos to attach to your response.
 


From the Yelp for Business app

  1. Tap Inbox in the bottom navigation bar
  2. Tap the message you'd like to respond to
  3. Tap the bar at the bottom of the screen that says Write a response...
  4. Enter your message and tap Send
 

From your email address

Please note that you'll need to enable email notifications to be able to reply to messages from your email address.

When you receive an email notification that a Yelp user has messaged you for the first time, you can simply reply from the email. Your email address is not shared with the Yelp user. You can only reply via email to the initial message from a Yelp user. If they reply to your response, you’ll receive an email, but to continue the conversation you’ll need to go to your inbox on the Yelp for Business website or use the Yelp for Business app.
